Cyrus Woodson of Greenbrier West
Virginia and Centre County Pennsylvania with descendants in Ohio
Cyrus Woodson was born in Virginia July of 1855 according
to the 1900 federal census of Centre County Pennsylvania. The part of Virginia
he was born in later became West Virginia. West Virginia statehood bill
was passed in 1862. The first Federal census we can find records for Cyrus is
the 1880 census and it states he is born about 1852 living in Falling Spring,
Greenbrier, West Virginia. His wife’s name is Mary and they are both listed as
Mulatto.
In 1900 census the Woodson’s are found in Centre County
Pennsylvania under the spelling of Woodston. Cyrus is now married to Della born
about March 1865.
In the 1910 census Cyrus is gone we assume that he has died
between 1900 and 1910.

Stewart Woodson is enumerated in
1920 as being away at College. Stewart Woodson born Pennsylvania about 1898 is
also enumerated on the 1920 census Youngstown, we believe this is Stewart
Woodson the son of Cyrus and Della Woodson. Stewart wife’s name is believed to
be Ruth and they resided in Wayne County Ohio later moving to Cuyahoga County
Ohio. Stewart and Ruth had a son named Stewart E. Woodson.
It is not verified but possible that William Woodson who is thought to be the father of Cyrus was also a Civil War Veteran with distinguished service.
