Owen Gwynedd

Owen Gwynedd was the Prince of Wales he died in 1169 after reigning 33 years. His arms are three eagles. In 1775 a collateral cousin of ours Joseph Winn of Massachusetts displayed the three eagles on his signage for his tavern. The painting did not follow strict guidelines of heraldry. The people of the period were irreverent to the significance. The tavern sign was known as at the sign of Three Broiled Chickens (Alice Morse Earle, Stage Coach and Tavern Days).

The prehistoric kings of Britain span about 20 generations back to Gwenedda Whedig, King of Cumberland founder of The Holy Tribe of Britain and first cousin to Constantine the Roman Emperor about 328 A.D. The families of Vaughan, Tudor, Lewis, Morgan and Galmorgan to name some have references to these lines from Rome within their own lines. The dates don’t all work out and many people argue many parts of this history. Please just keep in mind you can study the really ancient lines if you are so inclined.
